Patient is a 20-year-old college student who felt that she lacked considerable confidence because of her self-conscious nature regarding her nose. She disliked having her photograph taken as she did not like the bump on her nose, and felt that her nasal bones and tip were too wide and made her appear unattractive. She had a history of nasal trauma and also desired to breathe better.
Septo/rhinoplasty with straightening of the nasal septum, straightening and contouring of the nasal bones, and reduction of nasal dorsal hump. She underwent simultaneous narrowing and contouring of the nasal tip with placement of cartilaginous grafts to increase tip projection and maintain long-term angularity. I suggested she have fat transfer to the midface and periorbital region, along with her lips. She breathes better now, and feels so much more confident in her appearance. She is approximately 6 weeks post-surgery and the fat transfer will be permanent, the nose can be expected to improve with regards to overall appearance and definition for up to a year.
