Patient is a 26-year-old Hispanic female who had long desired a smaller and more delicate nose that better matched her face. She was bothered by a large dorsal hump and an overly projected nasal tip that lacked feminine definition. She wanted to maintain “her look” yet improve her nose and better compliment her other facial features.
Procedure: Rhinoplasty/Septoplasty with placement of cartilage and facial grafts. In this patient, what may seem like a simple rhinoplasty is in fact complex. Her rhinoplasty began with the placement of a fascial graft from the temporal scalp (no hair was shaved or lost) to the radix (between her eyebrows) to elevate her nasal starting point. Her nasal bump was reduced along with narrowing of her nasal bones. Next, her nasal tip cartilages were recontoured through nasal tip suture techniques and a cartilage graft was placed to aid in the reduction nasal tip projection and provide long term support. Lastly, her nostrils width and flare were adjusted to complement her new nose. She was extremely delighted with her surgical result and felt much more beautiful without losing her “uniqueness”.
