Patient is a 19-year-old college student who has long desired a less-projecting and feminine appearing nose. She has become increasingly self-conscious about having photographs taken as she dwells upon the bump and wide nasal tip that goes down when she smiles. She has dreamt of a more delicate nose that better complements and enhances her facial features.
Procedure: Septorhinoplasty with reduction of nasal dorsal bump, narrowing of the nasal bones and reduction of overly projecting and hanging nasal tip. The tip cartilages were reduced through excisional and suture techniques, nostril size was reduced, and significant internal cartilaginous graft support was placed to maintain long-term aesthetic results. Photographs are 2 years post rhinoplasty, and she has stated that her rhinoplasty was a life-altering event, significantly boosting her self-esteem and enjoyment of the social aspects of life.
