Patient is a 28-year female who feels that she has long been defined by her “beak” nose.

She has always been self-conscious about having her photo taken as she would diligently avoid looking at her profile, and thought she looked very masculine and unattractive.  She desired a smaller, less projecting nose with a softer profile and more feminine nasal tip.  She has long-standing difficulty breathing and would like to improve her airway along with cosmetic enhancements.

Procedure:  Rhinoplasty with septoplasty and reduction of nasal bump with lowering the nasal radix (where the nose starts between the eyebrows).  The nasal bones were narrowed and contoured creating appropriate dorsal aesthetic lines, with opening of the internal nasal airways to better allow better breathing with reinforcement through placement of cartilaginous grafts.  The nasal tip was shortened, rotated and contoured through cartilage removal and suture techniques.  Lastly, the nostrils were shortened and reoriented to decrease nostril flare,and make the overall appearance softer and more feminine.

Patient is a 31-year-old female with a long-standing desire to improve her breathing and change the appearance of her nose.  She does not like her masculine appearing profile with a prominent dorsal hump and drooping nasal tip that lacks feminine projection and plunges when she smiles.  She feels that her nose is too wide and makes her look like she has had multiple nasal fractures.  She would like to look more beautiful, with the ability to breathe better.

Procedure:  Septorhinoplasty with reduction of nasal dorsal hump, and placement of internal cartilage grafts to increase nasal projection and open internal breathing passages.  The nasal bones were narrowed, and the nasal tip cartilages were contoured utilizing suture techniques.  A fascial graft was placed at her nasal radix (the top of her nose) to soften the nasal profile and give a more feminine appearance to her nose.  She is delighted with both the appearance of her nose, and the ability to finally breathe well.  Photographs are approximately 4 months after sugery.

Patient is an 18 year-old female with a desire to have a more elegant and feminine appearing nose.  She does not like the hump on her nasal profile, or her bulbous and over-projecting nasal tip that lacks definition and makes her nose look too rounded and thick.  She would like a more  delicate appearing nasal profile that better complements her facial features.

Procedure:  Septorhinoplasty with reduction of dorsal hump with lowering of over-projecting nasal tip, and refinement of nasal tip with cartilage reduction and suture techniques.  Her photos are approximately 3 months post-surgery and significant further nasal tip definition and reduction of thickness of her nose can be expected over time as the swelling diminishes and tissues settle.  She feels that her nose looks natural and quite beautiful.

Specifically, she did not like the nasal bump on her profile and the downturned nasal tip that lacked definition especially when she smiled.
