As one of the most well-respected surgeons in the Phoenix metropolitan area, Dr. Shapiro is an Assistant Professor in Plastic Surgery at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and is the Director of Aesthetic Surgery Training for the Mayo Rochester Plastic Surgery Residency.  Past President of the Maricopa Society of Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Shapiro brings a wealth of experience to his practice, having meticulously performed tens of thousands of facelifts, rhinoplasties, breast enhancements, and body contouring surgeries.

Dr. Shapiro is extremely committed to sharing the gifts he has been given, and was awarded “Teacher of the Year” for the Mayo Clinic Rochester Plastic Surgery Residency Program in 2018.

Extensive Study

Dr. Shapiro has studied extensively in his quest to perfect the art of body sculpting and in 2009 he was introduced to Hi-Definition Liposculpture and was immediately hooked. Astounded by the before and after results, Dr. Shapiro researched the technique and began a correspondence with Dr. Hoyos, a plastic surgeon based out of Bogota, Colombia and the creator of Hi-Definition liposuction. He was cordially invited to travel to Colombia and train with Dr. Hoyos himself. 

At that time, Dr. Shapiro became one of seventy-five surgeons worldwide and one of seventeen surgeons in the United States to have adopted this gold standard technique. Dr. Shapiro brought the Hi-Definition liposuction technique back to Arizona in 2010 and was the first—and only—surgeon statewide to be offering this treatment. Dr. Shapiro is proud to offer this technically demanding and advanced technique to patients in Arizona and those that travel from across the world for his expertise.
