Turn Your Plastic Surgery Procedure into a Vacation
Choosing a plastic surgeon can be a daunting task, especially when you have so many to choose from. The number of plastic surgeons in the country continues to grow every day and there are probably several within 100 miles of your home. The best plastic surgeon for you, however, may not be close by. They may not even been in your state! That shouldnât stop you from choosing that surgeon for your procedure. After all, itâs your body â you deserve the best work from the best possible person.
Here at Shapiro Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, we believe that traveling for plastic surgery should be a positive experience for every out of town patient. Thatâs why weâve put together a list of ideas and tips to help make the process as easy on you as possible.
How to Give Your Information to Dr. Shapiro
The first thing you want to do is reach out and contact Dr. Shapiro, which can be done by calling or emailing his practice. This will give you access to all the necessary info about the procedure youâre interested in as well as Dr. Shapiro himself and his facility.
Should you decide that you want to have your procedure done by Dr. Shapiro, you will need to provide him with all the information he needs about you. This includes your basic contact information, the kind of procedure you want, and why you want to have the procedure.
You should send some quality, high-resolution pictures of yourself that shows the area where you want surgery from all sides. These pictures need to be good enough that Dr. Shapiro can make an accurate assessment of you, so no cell phone selfies!
How to Do Your Patient Consultation
Once Dr. Shapiro has a sufficient number of photos and information to determine if you are a possible candidate for your procedure, we will be able to provide you with Photo Imaging (if applicable) and a Quote for the procedure. Once that is completed we will be able to schedule an in person Consultation and Surgery date that correlates with your travel schedule.
How to Travel to Scottsdale for Your Surgery
Now that youâve made your appointment, how are you going to get to Scottsdale? If you are close enough that traveling by car is feasible and affordable, itâs recommended that you do that instead of flying. However, flying is also a perfectly fine option if that works better for you. Scottsdale is very close to the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and finding your way to the office is pretty straightforward.
Plan to arrive at least a couple days before your procedure so you have time to relax, meet with Dr. Shapiro in person, and ensure that all the necessary paperwork is turned into the office. Having that cushion will help you decompress and prepare for surgery without feeling rushed or panicked. You should also plan to stick around for a period of time after your surgery. Dr. Shapiro will recommend a specific amount depending on your procedure. This time is to allow you to get over the initial recovery phase and keep you close by in case there are complications or if you have any questions.
Itâs also recommended that you bring someone with you to provide moral support and to help you take care of yourself in the days following your procedure. Having a friend or family member with you will help take some of the stress out of traveling.
