Facelifts
To understand exactly what a facelift is, it is best to understand, for discussion purposes, that the face can be divided into thirds; with a browlift addressing aging of the upper third of the face, eyelid surgery addressing changes that occur around the eyes, and a facelift addressing the face below the eyes including the cheeks, jawline, and neck. For many patients, the key issues corrected by a facelift include sagging jowls, loose neck skin with or without muscle bands (turkey-gobbler neck) and fat accumulation under the chin causing a double-chin. Total facial rejuvenation (complete or total facelift) generally addresses the entire face at the same time, incorporating all three procedures simultaneously. As one could expect, when performed expertly, this combination provides the most balanced and natural appearing results.
