Brachioplasty

With age, and some believe with genetic predisposition, certain individuals develop heavy or sagging upper arms that seem to be refractory to attempts at dieting or specific exercises to tone the area. Depending upon the skin elasticity of the upper arm and the amount of fat accumulated, different plastic surgical procedures can produce arms that seem more proportioned and attractive. If upper arms are firm with healthy elastic skin, the area can be sculpted with liposuction with predictable skin shrinkage occurring, revealing upper arms that are harmonious with the rest of the body. In patients with poor skin elasticity or hanging skin, some form of a brachioplasty will yield the best results. A brachioplasty removes excess skin and fat from the upper arms with scars based upon how much fat and skin excess is present.
